SEO & Local Search in Rhode Island

If you run a business in Rhode Island and you're not showing up when people search Google, you're handing those calls to the shop down the road. SEO isn't complicated, but it's specific work, and most of it never gets done. I handle the local SEO that puts you in front of the person searching for what you do, right now, in the town you serve. That's the whole job: get found, get the call.

You can't buy your way into the top of Google's local results. Those spots are earned, which is exactly why they're worth having. A competitor with a bigger ad budget can't outbid you for them.

Where the calls come from

The Google map pack, and why it's where the calls are

When someone searches for a plumber, a dentist, or a roofer near them, Google shows a small map with three businesses above everything else. Those three take about a third of the clicks on the page. Fourth place isn't one spot lower, it's below the map, where most people never scroll. Getting you into that box of three is the point of local SEO. It's the difference between a phone that rings and a website nobody finds.

The actual work

What local SEO actually moves the needle

Google decides the map pack on three things: relevance, distance, and prominence. Distance you can't change. The other two you can, and that's where a real local SEO company earns its keep.

RelevanceYou control this

Whether Google can tell you do the exact thing that was typed. A listing that says "Contractor" isn't relevant to "roof leak repair," even if that's most of your work.

What I do: set the most specific primary category, enter every service separately, and describe them in the words your customers use.
DistanceYou can't control this

How far you are from whoever is searching. This is the factor everyone wastes energy fighting.

What I do: set your service area properly and build real pages about the towns you drive to, so relevance and prominence make up the difference.
ProminenceWhere races are won

How well known and well regarded Google thinks you are. Reviews, how recently they arrived, profile activity, and consistent listings all feed this.

What I do: keep reviews arriving every week, post to your profile, and clean up your listings across the web.

Consistency Google checks

Consistent business listings: your name, address, and phone

Google checks your name, address, and phone number against every place they appear online before it will trust you. That's your website, your Google listing, and the older directories you forgot you were in. When those don't match, even by an abbreviation, Google can read it as a different business, and your ranking suffers for it.

The listings that carry that information are called local citations, and keeping them identical everywhere is what people mean by NAP consistency. I get you listed in the places that matter, fix the ones that are wrong, and keep them matching, so Google sees one clear business instead of three blurry ones. It's unglamorous work, and it's one of the most common reasons a good business stays invisible.

The kind of audit I start from. It flags where your name, address, and phone don't line up, so I know exactly which listings to fix.

Proof, not promises

How I measure it: the rank map

You shouldn't have to take my word for whether this is working. I run a rank map, a grid of points across the towns you serve, and check where you land in the map pack from each one. Red means you're not showing. Green means you are. Over time the goal is simple: turn the map green across your area.

Every four weeks you get a plain report showing what moved, in plain English, no jargon. If a number went the wrong way, you'll see that too, and you'll know what I'm doing about it.

Red means you're not showing. Green means you are. A grid like this across your towns is how I show you where you stand, and how the picture turns greener over time.

See where you rank right now
